about us

Wide Area Communications was started in 1995 by Simon Brock and Ian Wrigley. When first established the company helped organisations join the Internet so they could use advanced services like email. We also carried out firewall penetration testing and were one of the first companies in the UK to offer this as a service.

Very soon after the company was started, the first workable web browser (NCSA Mosaic) started to appear and the company started to create web sites. One of our first web sites was for the now extinct CD-ROM Magazine which was published by Dennis Publishing. From there the company went on to design, host and implement all the web sites for Dennis Publishing. Providing content management solutions for all sorts of companies is now an important part of the company's business

In 2003, the company opened a US office based in Los Angeles.
