Charging for Web Content Charging for Web Content

Although an earlier question shows that publishers are looking to leverage more revenue from their existing paid-content areas, the general drift towards a greater amount of free content continues.

Looking at the editorial content that you provide on your website, what general approach are you taking in the current economic climate?

We are increasing the amount of free content online 41%
We are holding the amount of free content online 36%
We are increasing the amount of paid-for content 14%
We have no overall strategy 9%
TOTAL 100%

This is supported by the questions in the next section “Integrating Print & Web”, where only half of respondents agree with the statement that “We restrict free online content in order to protect print revenues.”
